Class 1 BEGINNERS PRACTICE JUMPING
Horse or Pony any height, rider any age. May be on lead rein (this class only)
Fences will not exceed 55cms (1’9”)
Class 2 BEGINNERS JUMPING Max height 60cm (2’0”)
This class is open to junior/senior members, riding either horses/ponies. Competitors in this class are not eligible to compete in classes 4 to 9 on the same day. The class will consist of one round. Any member with three clear rounds at the end of the season will be eligible for the Beginners Jumping Championship at the last points show. The overall winner at the end of the season would not be eligible for this class in future seasons.
Class 3 PRACTICE JUMPING
Horse or Pony any height, rider any age. Fences - Max height 70cms (2’3”). The last two fences will be at 85cms (2’9”) to be jumped by ponies and horses 148cms/14.2h.h.and over. Any competitor who has not presented for jumping before 11.45am will be eliminated.
Class 4 70cms JUMPING PONIES (Not before 1.00pm)
Rider any age. Ponies not exceeding 148cms. Maximum height in the first round 70cms.
Class 5 80cms JUMPING PONIES
Rider any age. Ponies not exceeding 148cms. Maximum height in the first round 80cms.
Class 6 70cms JUMPING HORSES
Rider any age. HORSES ONLY must exceed 148cms. Max height in the first round 70cms.
Class 7 ACCUMULATOR with JOKER
Rider any age. A senior cannot compete on a pony under 143cms. Score is accumulated with each fence jumped Clear. The joker fence is optional after the round has been completed and the rider has gone through the timing.
Class 8 80cms JUMPING HORSES
Rider any age. HORSES ONLY must exceed 148cms. Max height in the first round 80cms.
Class 9 OPEN JUMPING 90cms to 1.00cms
Rider any age. Ponies must exceed 138cms. Max height in the first round 1.00m
Members who compete in classes 4,5,6,7,8 & 9 are eligible for the SJ Championship at the end of the season. The Adrian Ross Perpetual Trophy
Rules in accordance with the current BS Rule Book. Except that:
Three refusals constitute elimination as per Riding Club rules.Numbers must be worn in all classes.Age limits are as stated in the schedule.Spurs can be worn by juniors in show jumping classes (please see page 44 for the rules on all other classes).There are no prohibited bits for show jumping, provided they are used as intended and not to reprimand the horse.Market Harboroughs are only allowed provided they are not used in conjunction with any other martingales.Blinkers, running, check, draw and side reins are forbidden.Jackets and light coloured jodhpurs/breeches must be worn.RING 2 - RIDDEN SHOWING - Commencing 9.30 a.m.

Class 11 RIDDEN M & M LARGE BREEDS
Connemara, Highland, Dales, Fell, New Forest, Welsh Section C & D - To be shown in natural state
Class 12 RIDDEN M & M SMALL BREEDS
Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh Section A & B - To be shown in natural state
Class 13 RIDING HORSE / HACK
Exc. 148cm, but hacks not to exceed 160cm.
Class 14 RIDDEN ARAB – PART BRED & ANGLO
Class 15 LEAD REIN PONY Snaffle Bridle only
Open to Show Ponies, Show Hunter Ponies & M&M Ponies. Rider’s 8 years and under on 1st January in the current year. This class is to find the most suitable & well-mannered Lead Rein Pony. Max height 122cm. All qualifying combinations must check the relevant society rules on pony height before entering. All competing Receive rosette.
Class 16 FIRST RIDDEN PONY Snaffle Bridle only
Open to Show Ponies, Show Hunter Ponies & M&M Ponies. Rider’s 10 years and under on 1st January in the current year. This class is to find the most suitable & well-mannered First Ridden Pony. All competing receive rosette. Max height 128cm.

Class 17 RIDDEN VETERAN – Spurs are not permitted. Horse or Pony 15-19 years and over - rider any age
Class 18 20+RIDDEN VETERAN – Spurs are not permitted. Horse or Pony 20 years and over - rider any age

Coloured, Spotted, & Palomino horses/ponies any height - rider any age
Class 20 RIDDEN OPEN COB
Horse of Cob Type, traditionals shown in natural state. Show cobs and Maxi cobs to be shown hogged open to any colour and height - rider any age.
Class 21 HUNTER HORSE
Horses exceeding 148cm - rider any age
Class 22 SHOW HUNTER PONY – Mixed Height
Ponies not exceeding 148cm. Riders must be suitable age and height for their mounts.
Class 23 OPEN JUNIOR SHOWING – Mixed Height
Horse or pony any height. Riders 18 years and under on the 1st January in current year. Riders must be a suitable age and height for their mounts.
Class 24 OPEN SHOWING
Horses / Ponies any height, 4 years old or over, registered or un-registered including part breeds. Riders must be a suitable age and height for their mounts.
Members who compete in classes 11,12,28,39 & 40 are eligible for the M&M Championship at the end of the season. The Chadwick Trophy.
Please make sure that your entry is correct before handing it in. If you change the name of a horse mid-season it will be classed as two different horses so try and be consistent. Dress & Tack in accordance with BSPS Rules.
RING 3 - WORKING HUNTER - Commencing 9.30 a.m.
Class 25 PRACTICE WORKING HUNTER
Horse or Pony any height, rider any age. Fences will not exceed 55cms. No entries taken after 10.00am. The class will close at 10.30am

Class 26 JUNIORS BEGINNERS WORKING HUNTER
To be ridden by a Junior member. No spurs. Competitors not eligible to compete in any other WH Class on the same day. The overall point’s winner at the end of the season would not be eligible for this class in future seasons. Max height 60cm.
Class 27 SENIOR BEGINNERS WORKING HUNTER
To be ridden by a Senior Member. No Spurs. Competitors not eligible to compete in any other WH Class on the same day. The overall point’s winner at the end of the season would not be eligible for this class in future seasons. Max height 60cm.
Class 28 M & M WORKING HUNTER
To be ridden by a Junior or Senior. Native Breeds only. To be shown in natural state. Max height 70cm.
Class 29 JUNIOR NOVICE WORKING HUNTER HORSE/PONY
To be ridden by a Junior, under 18 years on the 1st January in current year. Max height 70cm.
Not before 1.30 p.m.
Class 30 SENIOR NOVICE WORKING HUNTER HORSE/PONY
To be ridden by a Senior. Max height 70cm.
Class 31 INTERMEDIATE WORKING HUNTER HORSE/PONY
To be ridden by a Junior or Senior. Max height 85cm.
Class 32 OPEN WORKING HUNTER HORSE/PONY
To be ridden by a Junior or Senior. Max height 100cm.
Competitors in Class 26 & 27 may not compete in any Novice, Intermediate or Open W. H. class on the same day.
Spurs permitted for senior riders only
Protective boots may be worn by the horse/pony for the jumping phase but must be removed for the showing phase.
Competitors in Classes 29, 30, 31, & 32 are eligible for the WH Championship -
The Billington Trophy at the end of the season
Competitors in Class 11, 12, 28, 39 & 40 are eligible for the M & M Championship - The Chadwick Trophy at the end of the season

Class 45 JUNIOR HANDLER 6 to 9 years
The handler must be aged 6 to 9 years on 1st Jan in the current year and a correctly secured, approved riding hat must be worn - Stallions may not be shown in this class.
Class 46 JUNIOR HANDLER 10 to 14 years
The handler must be aged 10 years & over on 1st Jan in the current year and a correctly secured, approved riding hat must be worn - stallions may not be shown in this class.
Class 47 SENIOR HANDLER/SHOWMANSHIP
Handler must be 15 years & over on the 1st Jan current year and a correctly secured, approved riding hat must be worn. Stallions may be shown in the class, but the handler must be 16 years or over.
Class 48 RIDING PONY
Not exceeding 148cms.
Class 49 RIDING HORSE / HACK
Riding Horses Exc. 148cm. Hacks not to exceed 160cm.
Class 50 BEST CONDITIONED PONY - Not Exc. 148cm.
Class 51 BEST CONDITIONED HORSE - Exc. 148cm.
NB: A competitor can only show one animal in each class. If an owner is showing more than one animal it must be entered in the handler’s name. To qualify for points, the handler must be a member.

In Hand or Ridden. All Junior competitors must wear a correctly secured, approved riding hat when showing. Stallions may not be shown in this class.
Class 55 BONNY PONY (Natives)
In Hand or Ridden. All junior competitors must wear a correctly secured, approved riding hat when showing. Stallions may not be shown in this class.

Rider 10 years & under on 1ST January in the current year. Ponies will not be cantered together. They may canter if they choose in their individual shows. All competitors receive a rosette
Class 65 JUNIOR EQUITATION – Snaffle bridle only
Riders age 11 –13 on 1ST January in the current year.
Class 66 INTERMEDIATE EQUITATION – Snaffle bridle only
Riders age 14 – 17 on 1ST January in the current year.
Class 67 SENIOR EQUITATION – Snaffle bridle only – Spurs are not permitted.

To be entered in the spirit intended. This class is aimed at absolute beginners or nervous/novice combinations. Horse and Rider combinations who enter this class are disallowed from entering any other ridden showing classes in rings 1, 2, 3 & 6 on the same day. Rider not to have attained their 18th birthday on or after 1stJanuary of the current year and MUST BE a suitable height for their mount.
Class 69 SENIOR PRE-NOVICE (WALK/TROT ONLY)
To be entered in the spirit intended. This class is aimed at absolute beginners or nervous/novice combinations. Class 72 RIDING CLUB PONY
Pony not to exceed 148cms. To be judged on manners and suitability for riding club activities. Will include a small jump. Open to Junior or Seniors. Riders must be a suitable age and height for their mounts.
Class 73 RIDING CLUB HORSE
Horse must exc. 148cm. To be judged on manners and suitability for riding club activities. Will include a small jump. Open to Junior or Seniors. Riders must be a suitable age and height for their mounts.
Members who compete in classes 15,53 & 63 are eligible for the Lead Rein Championship at the end of the season. The Beacons Rose Petal Memorial Trophy.
Class 68 & 69 - Horse/Rider combinations who have won 3 or more classes over a season, or are overall champion at the end of the season, will be unable to compete in the same class in future seasons. Spurs are not permitted. Any Horse/Rider combinations found to have entered any other ridden classes in rings 1, 2, 3 & 6 on the same day will have all points disallowed for that day.
